“I was born in Canada and grew up in New York City. I graduated from NYU Tandon School of Engineering with a B.S. in Biomolecular Sciences and a minor in psychology. During my undergraduate years, I studied reactive astrocytosis mechanisms in the context of autoimmune demyelination diseases in a neuroscience laboratory at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. I subsequently earned my medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine with a distinction in research. As a medical student, I participated in a number of research projects, including spending a year at NYU Langone Medical Center investigating hypoxia-induced mechanisms of glioblastoma resistance to treatment. I completed my internship at Northwell Health-Lenox Hill Hospital.” - Sean Mahase, MD
