Students will be given a rotation schedule designed to provide them with the experience necessary to fulfill the objectives of the clerkship and will work with each attending physician based on a schedule divided into half-day blocks. The student’s clerkship responsibilities will include attendance at chart rounds, tumor boards and conferences throughout the week. Students will work closely with the radiation oncology residents to prepare for and examine new patients, present new patients to the attending(s), and observe and participate in treatment planning including dosimetry, simulation, and set-up. Students will also be given the opportunity to observe brachytherapy and other procedures as scheduled in the clinic. The elective should arrange with prior approval of the sponsor and advance scheduling at least two months prior.
Medical Students Clerkship
The Radiation Oncology Clerkship is a required four-week clinical rotation for medical students. A wide range of topics is covered. Students have opportunities to collaborate with clinicians and researchers in the field of Radiation Oncology.
